Disc Herniations
Herniated discs can occur in the neck or back regions of the spine. A disc is an elastic-like substance that acts like a cushion between the vertebrae. They act as buffers to absorb shock from our daily movements. The disc has a center region filled with liquid called the nucleus. A disc injury can occur where by a disc gets pulled out of position, torn or at worst the nucleus breaks out through the disc (ruptured disc). The most common levels of herniated discs are L4/L5 and C6/C7. Based on the severity of the injury Chiropractic care can help to heal disc injuries and aid the disc back into proper positioning. Chiropractic care has had much success on herniated discs through gentle traction adjustments.
